My Heart Beats in Iloilo: Redesigning the Heart of a City

The Story

2023 was a year filled with blessings for TTGC. Winning awards across different countries, the founders traveled to receive honors while handling big projects. Amidst the busy schedule, they longed for everything they love about Iloilo — their hometown. When they learned about the Mayor’s invitation to create a new logo, as shared in the Philippine News Agency article by Perla Lena, it became deeply personal.

We appreciate the Mayor for the opportunity to create something for our hometown.

The Design

Keeping the Heart

Referencing the original logo, TTGC kept the heart shape that symbolizes unity. Diverse elements and colors converge, forming a singular heart — a reflection of the city’s spirit as a blend of lively festivals and tranquil moments.

The Elements

A bike surrounded by greenery — representing the city’s tranquility as the "Most Bike-Friendly City" in the Philippines. Iloilo has beautiful parks and a cycling culture that defines its character.

The Dinagyang Festival — the biggest festival in Iloilo City. People from around the Philippines and around the world fly to Iloilo to celebrate. The vibrant energy and movement of the festival is captured in the flowing forms.

The Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival — capturing the smooth flow, excitement, and ocean breeze of the annual sailboat race.

The City

Iloilo is a city of contrasts — centuries-old heritage buildings stand alongside modern developments, world-famous La Paz Batchoy warms the soul, and the Dinagyang Festival fills the streets with color and energy every January.

Logo Applications

The heart mark was designed to work across every medium — from festival backdrops and city signage to something as personal as a tattoo, symbolizing hometown pride.

The Reception

The redesigned logo received warm reception from both the public and the design community. It mirrors the heartbeat of Iloilo — a city that is both lively and tranquil, capturing not only Ilonggos’ hearts but also the people who witness its beauty.

It’s an honor to have the opportunity in helping shape the visual representation of our beloved city. As our logo finds its place, may it mirror the heartbeat of Iloilo — a city that’s both lively and tranquil, capturing not only the Ilonggo’s hearts but also the people who witness its beauty.
